Daniel Tward receives NSERC Post-Graduate Scholarship-Doctoral award

Daniel Tward, a third-year CIS PhD student working with Drs. Michael Miller, Laurent Younes and Tilak Ratnanather has been awarded a Post-Graduate Scholarship-Doctoral (PGSD) award from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). This award will support his project “Robust parametric representation of neuroanatomical shapes in computational anatomy,” which aims to improve image registration, segmentation, and analysis through incorporating parametric statistical models of shape variability. The 2-year scholarship of $42,000 was awarded based on his academic excellence, research potential, and communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.
