BME design teams among winners in the 2015 JHU Business Plan Competition
Congratulations to BME student-formed startups Bright Energy Africa and SpiroSense, awarded first place at the 16th Annual Johns Hopkins University Business Plan Competition. Receiving first place in the Social Enterprise category was BME undergrad Miguel Dias’ Bright Energy Africa. The newly formed company provides technology for production of biomass charcoal, a smokeless fuel alternative make from agricultural waste. Tying for first place in the Medical Technology Undergraduate category was SpiroSense, a low-cost spirometer designed by BME undergrad team in the CBID program.
