Student HighlightsJanuary 26, 2009 Student in Karchin lab is Intel Science Talent Search semifinalistDebattama Sen, a senior at Montgomery Blair High School, Silver Spring, MD, who has been working in the lab of Dr. Rachel Karchin, Assistant Professor, Institute for Computational Medicine, since last May, has been named a semifinalist in the 2009 Intel Science Talent Search. Debattama's project is entitled "Agent-based simulation of PI3K/Akt pathway activation in breast cancer".
The 300 semifinalists chosen from among 1,608 entrants representing 495 high schools in 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and five overseas schools will each receive a $1,000 award, as well as a $1,000 award for their school to be used to further excellence in science, math, and engineering education.
