BME PHD STUDENT HANDBOOK

BME COUNCIL

The BME Council was started in February of 1992 by Robert Fasciano. Its purpose was to allow the doctoral students a chance to get together on a monthly basis to get reports from the BME Committee and Primary Faculty Meeting student representatives, give the collective doctoral student body a louder voice in departmental affairs, and generate a closer sense of community among the students.

Events which have been coordinated through the BME Council in the past are tennis tournaments, windsurfing days, departmental picnics, departmental retreats and Summer student seminars. Attendance, which is voluntary, but encouraged, is typically 15-20 students. Meetings are held on the first Monday after the 10th of each month, at 5:00 in the Talbot Library.
